New Braunfels Conservation Society Projects - Tour of
Conservation Plaza - Open 10am-3pm daily/Sundays 12noon-3pm during
Wurstfest - Located at 1300 Church Hill Drive. Tour a historic German
village consisting of 15 restored and furnished to period structures
(circa 1849-1870) moved to preserve the German heritage. 200 hats are on
exhibit. Admission: Adults: $2.50/Children (6-18): $.50/Children under 6
free. For more information call 830/629-2943. Ferdinand Lindheimer Home
- Located at 491 Comal Avenue - Tours upon request. Ferdinand Jakob
Lindheimer (1801-1879) was the “Father of Texas Botany” and the newspaper
editor of the Herald-Zeitung. Lindheimer was the man most responsible for
New Braunfels being located by the Comal Springs. Admission: Adults:

Haus - Open 10:30am-2pm from November 5 through November 9 and located
in Conservation Plaza at 1300 Churchill Drive. Enjoy homemade German
lunches consisting of potato soup, sausage sandwiches, cooked cheese

830/832-9699. Buckhorn Barbershop Museum - Located at 521 West San
Antonio Street - Tours upon request. A “1900’s” equipped working
barbershop containing hundreds of hand-carved miniature circus animals and
figures; pictures made from rocks and antique toys. Admission:

Heritage Society of New Braunfels Projects - Heritage Village -
Museum of Texas Handmade Furniture - Open 1pm-4pm daily during
Wurstfest - Located at 1370 Church Hill Drive, adjacent to Conservation
Plaza and features historic house museum and collection of 1800’s
furniture crafted by German settlers. Guided tours of historic 1858
Breustedt-Dillen house furnished with a large collection of 1800’s German
Biedermeier furniture made by local craftsmen. Cabinet shop, log cabin and
summer kitchen are also included in tour. Admission:
$5.00-Adults/$4.00-Seniors/$1.00-Children (6-12years). For more

Der Kinderhalle - NEW entertainment area especially for
children ages 5 to 12 located in the Landa Recreation Center directly
adjacent to Wurstfest Gate #2. Features live performers and hands on
activities including pottery and “build a bear”. See daily schedule of

reservations. Sponsored by the Wurstfest Association and the New Braunfels
Parks and Recreation Department.
Sophienburg Museum & Archives - 401 West Coll Street. Open 10am-4pm
daily/Tuesdays-Saturdays during Wurstfest. Museum relates the history
through the display of artifacts and displays of early life in New
Braunfels. The Archives preserves the written history of the area through
thousands of collections of personal and public documents. Sophie’s
Shop – features German made Christmas items and is open year round.

Old Time Melodrama - Circle Arts Theatre located next door to the
Wursthalle. “Austin Pow-wurst”, this year’s slapstick mellerdrama,
is a parody of all spy movies with an audience warm-up session of games &
songs. This show features audience participation, cheering the hero and
throwing popcorn at the villain. Admission: $7.00 per person on Friday
through Sunday/$5.00 per person on Monday through Thursday - children
under 5 admitted free if accompanied by an adult. For more information

McKenna Children’s Museum – Open 10am-5pm daily
Tuesday-Saturday/Sunday 12 Noon-5pm and located at 801 West San Antonio
Street. Dino Vivo! Journey back in time when dinosaurs walked the earth
and soared the sky. Dinosaurs seemingly come alive this fall in an amazing

1 through November 11 - Located at the New Braunfels Art League Gallery -
239 West San Antonio Street. Annual art show features art in various media
which creates interest for all age groups. The show is juried and judged.

The Wurst Craft Show & Sale in Texas – November 3 & 4 - November 10
& 11/10am-5:30pm - Located on the Main Plaza in the New Braunfels
Utilities Parking Lot. Over 100 vendors selling hand-made arts and crafts
that include: woodworking, stained glass, crochet and knitting items,
jewelry, furniture, etc. Admission is free. Sponsored by the Comal County

Wurstfest Skat Tournament – Landa Haus. Saturday, November 10 beginning at 10am, International
Rules Tournament. Sunday, November 11 beginning at 9am, Texas Rules
Tournament. The purpose of this tournament is to introduce and promote the
playing of the German card game, “Skat”. Sponsored by the Texas State Skat

Bachfest at First Protestant Church - Located at 296 South Seguin
Avenue. Bachfest is a concert of classical music for chorus and orchestra
celebrating German heritage in New Braunfels and under the direction of
Dr. Joey Martin. Cost is $10.00 and includes admission to Wurstfest and a
complimentary shuttle is available from church between 5:00 and 6:45 pm.
Return shuttle is available from Wurstfest Gate #1 on Landa Street to
church between 6:30 and 7:30 pm. Historical tours of New Braunfels “First”
Protestant church founded in 1845 take place from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. For

Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church – Open 12 Noon-4pm daily November
3 through November 11 except Sundays 12:30pm-4pm during Wurstfest. Located
at 386 North Castell Avenue. Visit the historic church established in 1845
in downtown New Braunfels and the church oak, one of the famous trees of
Texas. The self-guided tour is designed to allow visitors the opportunity
to explore, at leisure, one of the first churches in Texas and its
beautiful religious artwork preserved by the German noblemen of New

Wurstfest Regatta – November 3 & 4/November 10 & 11. Sponsored by
Lake Canyon Yacht Club. Boardboats, Centerboards, Keelboats and Multihull
races. Sailors throughout the state participate each year. Spectators are

Wurstfest International Walkfest – November 3 & 4 starts at 8am.
Begins at the Schlitterbahn Employee Cafe. Sponsored by the New Braunfels
Marsch-und Wandergruppe. The walks are 10k long and promote fun and
friendship. The whole family can participate and the walk typically
attracts about 300 walkers from 2 to 82 years old from New Braunfels,

Wurst Five Mile Run-Walk- November 3. Starts at Landa Park
Pavilions 4 & 5 at 8am. Sponsored by the New Braunfels Running Club. This

Wurst Motorcycle Fun Run – November 3/Registration begins at 8 am.
Starts at Gruene Harley Davidson. The 5th Annual Motorcycle Run through
the Texas Hill Country with pre-determined stops. Proceeds benefit local
children’s charities of New Braunfels and Comal County. $20.00 donation
for each bike and $5.00 donation for riders. Sponsored by the Fire & Iron

Tour de Gruene Bicycle Classic – November 3 & 4 from 7am to 1pm at
Gruene Hall in Gruene, Texas. 24th annual event featuring 29 and 42 mile
recreational tour on Saturday, November 3 and 26.6 mile two person time
trial on Sunday, November 4. Event cost is $30.00 per person and is
sponsored by the San Antonio Bicycle Racing Club. For more information

Wurst Ride in Texas – November 3/8am-5pm – Starting Line in Austin,
with the Finish Line and Post Ride Party at Landa Park in New Braunfels.
Join us for the 5th Annual Wurst Ride in Texas Metric Century (100K) and
Metric Half Century (50K) taking you from Austin to New Braunfels. Riders
will be treated to a scenic view of rural Texas at the foot of the Texas
Hill Country. Ride benefits Capital Area Food Bank. For more information

Historic Outdoor Murals- Learn important elements of New Braunfels’
early history through larger than life outdoor murals. (1) “City of a
Prince”, located at West San Antonio Street and Castell Avenue, highlights
German immigration from Europe and the founding of New Braunfels. (2) “A
Tribute to Ferdinand J. Lindheimer” located on the L.A. Hoffmann Building
at 165 South Seguin Avenue, showcases the importance of this brilliant
man. Immigrant guide, editor/publisher of the first newspaper, teacher,
medicine man, botanist and considered the father of Texas botany. (3) “The
Lure of the Springs” located on the Landa Park Recreation Building conveys
the importance of the Comal Springs and River from prehistoric times to
the industrialization of New Braunfels through today. (4) “Spass and
Gemütlichkeit” located at 148 South Castell along Krause Strasse depicts
German fun and fellowship with sausage, beer & wine, and bakery goods all
currently in practice today. The Murals are sponsored by the Historic
Outdoor Art Museum/N.B., Inc. and of course are free. For more information
